SMP Boycott

 Readers for Accountability Solidarity Statement

To Whom it may Concern at St. Martins Press;
     I am adding my voice to the chorus of concerned influencers who are demanding accountability from St. Martin's Press.
     As reader and reviewer, I am dismayed by the non-response in the face of the issues of safety and equity brought forward by the organizers of #SpeakUpSMP. The failure to assure the equitable treatment of all BIPOC influencers and authors, is both disappointing and unacceptable.
     By choosing to remain silent, St. Martin's Press is failing to address the legitimate concerns of the influencers it works with. At the very least, St. Martin's Press should at least acknowledge those who are asking for accountability and engage in a meaningful way.
At this time, I will be withholding ALL reviews, conversations, engagement, or promotions for titles published under St. Martin's Press and any subsequent imprints. I hope you will reconsider your stance and take meaningful action to address these concerns.
Yours Sincerely,
Bert Scoops

Statement from Readers for Accountability

"The boycott of St. Martin’s Press, Wednesday Books, and other related imprints is a direct response to the publisher’s lack of accountability regarding statements made by an employee in their marketing department and their failure to respond to concerns about possible systemic issues within the department.

Participants are asked to withhold ALL reviews of these books until demands are met, including on Goodreads, Storygraph, and NetGalley. Additionally, we are asking that participants avoid promoting these books in any way during this time. This includes master lists, reading recaps, and other similar posts."
